Airport transfer automation: the operator's checklist.

What to automate, what to keep human.

By the Limozoft team Β· Last reviewed
Airport transfers punish weak automation. A 20-minute flight delay cascades into no-shows, angry passengers and driver overtime. Here's the automation baseline every airport operator should hit.

Automate: flight tracking

Pull live status directly from FAA or IATA feeds β€” not the passenger's word. Auto-adjust the pickup by the delay minus a configurable buffer.

Automate: queue assignment

Enforce FIFO or priority queues per terminal. Manual queue calls are a race-to-the-bottom for driver morale.

Keep human: meet-and-greet exceptions

When a VIP passenger doesn't show at baggage claim after 15 minutes, a human dispatcher makes the call β€” not a rule.

Automate: SLA measurement

Every airport trip should log curb-side vs baggage-claim actual time. Reviewed weekly.
